IN MENTAL & PHYSICAL WELLBEING
Metabolic health is mental health. What we eat and drink is directly related to our physical and mental wellbeing. Dealing with mental and physical health "symptoms" is NOT the way. Digging into their root cause, is!

COACHING

Mental health is important to live your best life. To prosper in the workplace and enjoy a full life. Except one's health is largely consequence of one's lifestyle. Poor mental health signals something is wrong. A better term is mental fitness - how we proactively create improvements in mental health.
This is no different from physical health. To say someone has poor physical health doesn't help that much. To define things better clarifying that they have type 2 diabetes helps.
Then, focusing on physical fitness create a proactive approach, too. As they do more exercise, adjust their food choices and improve their lifestyle so they will see improvements in their physical health.
When we, therefore, better define an individual's mental health concern let's say to be high stress and overwhelm (I could have picked any one of a number of things) - we can get proactive. There are numerous ways to helping an individual with stress and overwhelm without simply using medication (antidepressants) or removing the trigger (the stressor or trigger).
METABOLIC HEALTH IS MENTAL HEALTH.
With problems with mental health and wellbeing becoming almost pandemic, it is important to understand some common core causes of mental ill-health. One of those is people's nutrition and exercise choices. In the book "Change your diet, change your mind" by clinical psychiatrist Dr Georgia Ede the concept of just how powerful dietary changes are to improve mental health diagnoses often far-reaching the power of any pharmaceutical or therapeutic intervention just goes to show how important lifestyle change is.
My work with companies is to help create a more proactive culture around mental health to reduce sick days, improve employee performance and support a far more holistic approach than isolating "mental health problems" and coping with the human and financial costs of this growing problem.
